tbcohenTheresa Bullock Cohen is a certified EFT couples therapist & supervisor, a certified group psychotherapist, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and a board certified coach in full-time private practice. She specializes in working with adults who seek support around their relationships or major life transitions.

Theresa is a former supervisor for Harvard University Mental Health Services, and currently supervises and provides consultation to other therapists in private practice. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work and is currently on the teaching faculty for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy training program. In addition to her work as a clinical supervisor and educator, Theresa also has a strong history of service and leadership as a nonprofit board member. She is a former member of the executive board of directors for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy, and is a current board member of the NSGP Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports group psychotherapy in New England. She is also on the board of directors for A Safe Place Nantucket, which provides services to survivors of domestic violence.

For over 20 years, Theresa has enjoyed taking complex information, synthesizing it into understandable material and delivering it in a dynamic and engaging manner as a public speaker, trainer, group leader, and workshop presenter. Theresa has presented at Harvard University, Northeastern University, Boston College, Cambridge Hospital, and the annual conference for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy. Additionally, Theresa runs weekend educational workshops for couples, as well as leading process groups for clinicians seeking personal and professional development.

Prior to becoming a licensed therapist and certified coach, Theresa graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Communications and worked for 8 years in the business sector. She gained invaluable and diverse experience while working in the corporate world, however she decided to make a career shift to pursue her true calling and earn her master’s degree in clinical social work.

After achieving her MSW from Boston College, Theresa completed a post-graduate fellowship through the Harvard University Mental Health Service. She’s had the opportunity to work in various clinical settings as an Employee Assistance Provider, Addictions Social Worker at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and in community mental health at Wayside Youth and Family Services. Theresa also worked as a staff therapist at Harvard University, providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to Harvard students, professors and retirees.

Postgraduate Training

~ Theresa is a certified EFT couples therapist and supervisor through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She also has extensive couples training through the Family Institute of Cambridge and the Psychoanalytic Couple and Family Institute of New England. She has also completed continuing education seminars on couples therapy through Harvard Medical School, the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, and Imago Couples Therapy.

~ She is a certified group psychotherapist (CGP) through her training with the Northeastern Society of Group Psychotherapy and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

~ She is a board certified coach (BCC) through advanced trainings and workshops from the Institute for Life Coach Training, the International Coach Federation, and the Institute of Coaching.
