My Professional Background & Training
I am a certified EFT couples therapist & supervisor, a certified group psychotherapist, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and a professionally trained coach.
-
I have undergone rigorous and specialized training to become a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor. I work with couples to transform their relationships, as well as supervise and teach other therapists about couples therapy.
Over the last 15+ years, I have attended numerous continuing education seminars on couples therapy through Harvard Medical School, the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, Imago Couples Therapy, and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I completed a yearlong post-graduate training program through the Family Institute of Cambridge where I learned cognitive-behavioral strategies to help couples improve their communication skills. I did a three-year post-graduate fellowship through the Psychoanalytic Center for Families and Couples of New England to have a specialized understanding of the psychodynamic underpinnings about how our past affects our present relationship patterns. I completed five years of rigorous clinical training to become a certified EFT Couples Therapist and then went on to achieve certification as an Emotionally Focused Therapy Supervisor. As a certified EFT Supervisor, I teach and mentor other therapists how to work effectively with couples, hone their clinical skills, and improve outcomes.
-
I am a former supervisor for Harvard University Mental Health Services, and currently supervise and provide consultation to other therapists in private practice. I have taught as an adjunct professor at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work and have served on the teaching faculty for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy training program.
I have been a public speaker, trainer, group leader, and workshop presenter for over 20 years. I have presented at numerous organizations including Harvard University, Northeastern University, Boston College, Cambridge Hospital, and for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy. I especially love leading process groups for therapists seeking personal and professional development, as well as teaching continuing education workshops for EFT couples therapists.
Additionally, I co-teach EFT educational workshops for groups of couples, lead 1:1 Intensive Retreats for Couples, and deliver Emotional Intelligence coaching workshops.
As a certified group psychotherapist, I have years of experience developing and leading many different types of groups, from short-term support groups to multi-year process groups, as well as educational groups, skills groups, psychodynamic interpersonal groups, training groups, supervision groups, and day-long experiential groups.
In addition to my work as a clinical supervisor, educator, and trainer, I have a strong history of service and leadership as a nonprofit board member. I have overseen multiple education and fundraising events, been elected to Executive Committee positions, and served on the Board of Directors of nonprofit organizations such as the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy, a professional organization focused on group dynamics and training group therapists; the NSGP Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports group psychotherapy in New England; and A Safe Place Nantucket, which provides services to survivors of intimate partner violence.

Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I graduated from Northeastern University and worked for a number of years in the business sector where I gained invaluable and diverse experience. In my 30’s after doing some soul-searching, I decided to make a career shift to pursue my goal of helping others.
After earning my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Boston College, I completed a two-year post-graduate fellowship through Harvard University Mental Health Service. I went on to work as a staff therapist at Harvard University, providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to Harvard students, professors, and retirees. Since then, I’ve also had the opportunity to work in various clinical settings as an Employee Assistance Provider, Addictions Social Worker at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and in community mental health at Wayside Youth and Family Services. I have worked in full-time private practice since 2006.
I am a life-long learner and committed to not only delivering continuing education but to participating in specialized post-graduate learning to keep my skills and credentials current and relevant. I have completed professional development training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), group psychotherapy, mindfulness, polyvagal theory, attachment theory, trauma informed treatment, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and positive psychology.
In addition to my clinical therapy training and education, I also completed advanced trainings to become a professional coach from the Institute for Life Coach Training, the International Coach Federation, and the Institute of Coaching.
